Learn some interesting facts related to Pi Day.

On March 14, we celebrate the Pi Day. (For anyone in need of a math refresher: Pi is a mathematical constant that’s the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s represented by the Greek letter “π” and spelled out as “pi”.)

You don’t need to be a mathematician to celebrate the famed irrational number. People all over the world will celebrate the day by playing pi games, running 3.14 miles, eating pie and more.

Pi Day is extra special this year: For the only time in this century, pi will be spelled out to a total of 10 digits at exactly 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 a.m. (3.141592653).

The day got the Insurance Information Institute thinking about irrational numbers related to insurance. They recently created a Pi Day infographic about irrational insurance numbers. Make sure to check it out–and don’t forget that your Erie Insurance Agent is always there to help you make sense of your insurance.
